Posting by Email

Because the new “block editor” is so incredibly horrible, I’m trying out the alternatives.

This is the post by email option.

Functionally, I am using my email program (default Windows mail program) as the post editor. You can also set the publication time, although I’m not fiddling with that right now.

If this is just too much of a pain, then you can still go to the dashboard – just stick /wp-admin/ on to the end of your blog’s main page address—and on the left there’s Posts => Add New and that will take you to the old editor.

Yes, it’s a pain. You can also just do (your blog address) /wp-admin/post-new.php to go straight to the old, normal editor.

It’s a kludge, but at least it’s better than fighting the new editor, or buying a business sub to be able to install the plug-in so you can use the bleepin’ old editor.

Good luck, folks!

(note: I don’t mind the idea of paying a few bucks a month, and have been playing with the idea for a while. $25 a year is in the ha-ha-ha-NO zone)

  1. Re: “I don’t mind the idea of paying a few bucks a month, and have been playing with the idea for a while. $25 a year is in the ha-ha-ha-NO zone”. $2 a month is too much? Am I missing something?

I’m paying YouTube $12 a month to avoid the ads and $15 a month to Netflix and I think I’m easily getting my moneys worth. I’m also paying $200 a month for cable TV which is a chunk of change but it keeps peace in the house.

Blogger (Google’s blogging tool) has a new editor too, and that’s what I thought you were talking about. It has all kinds of problems, like half of the old stuff that used to work doesn’t and everything else is just different.

    1. I mistyped– it’s $25 a MONTH if you buy it a full year at a time.

We’re actually close to canceling our Netflix, mostly haven’t because there are still a few shows that are worth it– but we get more from Prime and it’s just a bonus feature.

  2. To quickly access your wordpress-hosted blog’s new-post-in-old-format page, add /wp-admin/post-new.php to the end of the main page URL.
