Vaccination, again

Most important line:
If telling the truth won’t get you what you want, maybe what you want is wrong.

Your Friend Doesn’t Want the Vaccine. What Do You Say? Briefly, “…commanding, advising, lecturing and shaming … not only don’t work but also often backfire.” Kind of manipulative, but not stupid in its approach. I would add, tell the truth. If telling the truth won’t get you what you want, maybe what you want is wrong.

  1. Off topic from vaccinations but I read something about a woman who talking to other women about “why men don’t commit”.

Part of her talk was about women who try to manipulate the men in their lives.

Basically she said that men can (and often do) recognize when a woman attempts to manipulate them instead of being honest about “how the woman wants the man to be”.

Of course, when the man calls the woman on being manipulative, the response of “don’t you love me” drives the man off.

But it’s ironic IMO that too many women who want the man to change are not willing to change for him.

I’m single and likely will be single for the rest of my life but I know that marriage involves compromise from both persons involved.

    1. Yep.

A lot of very bad habits have been exposed by the last year or so, especially since so much of it was in social media format so you can SEE what they’ve done, rather than the usual tactic of “oh, you must have misunderstood” working.

  2. That was an appalling chatbot. Manipulation plus half truths. No response to: Yes. They’ve been working on this mRNA therapy since 2003 and it’s been an epic failure that killed kids. .

    Ugh.

  3. If you are worried about getting COVID, then get the vaccine. And shut up about it, nobody cares.

If you are not worried about COVID, go along with your life as normal, taking whatever precautions you see fit. And shut up about it, nobody cares.

Either way, SHUT THE HELL UP AND LEAVE ME THE FRICK ALONE.

  4. At church today one of the members asked if I was full vaccinated (I don’t wear a mask). No, not vaccinated. “I already had covid.”

And of course, afterwards was a church social with food and talking, where no one was masked. It’s not like a virus is gonna suddenly do an about-face just because you’re stuffing food in your mouth.

What I really want to do is point them to all the studies showing masking doesn’t change viral infection rates. And even if the masks were effective, wearing them below your nose, touching them all the time, or even having facial hair, would render them ineffective anyway.

    1. Have you learned nothing from the past year? The virus can’t infect you once you sit down. Follow the Science!

  5. I’ll hold off talking about the why of the salty. (I’m a bit much, even by my usual, at the moment.)

So, the mother-fuckers have been playing games with information about the cold strains in questions. 1) testing of anti-gen responses 2) assumptions about what strains spread to which degree when 3) original spread 4) variant strains 5) effectiveness of masking and other lockdown measures, etc.

They’ve been lying, obviously lying, and we are supposed to unconditionally trust the ever changing conclusion of the moment.

The assumption of the vaxxing requires that people not have already been exposed to the strains in question, and that there not be newer strains of more relevance at this point.

The vaccine basically uses the resources of the body to generate visible signs of an immune response. If a person has already been exposed to the strain (without symptoms), and is immune, that means that it uses resources not available to fight off other exposures.

If you are using a new mechanism to trigger the spending of bodily resources, you definitely do not have information about costs of excessive spending on subjects with rare health fragilities. There is a risk there that you cannot have the information to assess.

If someone wants to suggest that this reasoning does not hold because I ‘sound angry’, they are damned correct that I am angry.

    1. You’re usually not quite as salty as me when I’m very upset, so… prays going up. You’ve mentioned new strains added on your existing ones, so I’m worried on top of that.

There is the calming factor that the new, triggered immune responses are weaker– folks who had similar strains don’t have as bad of side effects, folks whose immune system is weak don’t have as strong of side effects– but it *is* an added strain on the system, that is why folks who study immunology suggest spacing vaccines.

And why folks who do cattle will try to space even the multi-vaccines.

Because your immune system is busy, and it doesn’t multitask past a certain point.

      1. Thanks.

It isn’t the worst, and some of the strains have even eased (with actual recovery time even), but soem RL personal reasons are not fun.

I’d anticipated possibly going quiet for a while, and emailed someone on ATH/MGC a heads up that I was okay if anyone asked.
